I'm a Disability Lead Mentor!

Back in February, I attended the virtual Disability Lead Summit by Disability Lead and absolutely loved it. The speakers spoke on disability leadership, representation and the importance of owning who you are, all of which hearing different perspectives on felt super meaningful.

Disability Lead is based in Chicago, so even though I was excited to see what other programs I could participate in, I wasn't sure of my options since I'm based outside of Toronto.

Then a couple of months ago, I was invited to become a mentor for one of their Disability Lead Institute program Fellows!

My mentee is a South Asian woman with a disability who also has a background in PR and events, who wants to build her confidence in using her voice in more public forums and turn her lived experience into a relatable message.

In other words, she's practically a version of me who's earlier in her journey - and I'm so looking forward to supporting her goals.

We've had one call so far, which felt fitting to have our first one during Disability Pride Month, and it already feels like a perfect match.

It'll definitely be a learning experience for us both, and I'm excited to see where this mentorship journey takes us! 🎉✨
